Schenectady County, in the eastern part of the state of New York, is part of the Albany-Schenectady-Troy Metropolitan Area and has a population of approximately 156,000 people as of the 2020 census. The county seat is Schenectady.
The county was officially established in 1809. Schenectady County is known for its historic sites and museums, including the Schenectady County Historical Society and the Stockade Historic District. The county is also home to several parks and nature preserves, including Central Park and the Plotter Kill Preserve.
